The rigorous conditions of conservation that medieval manuscripts require, many of them authentic works of art due to their miniatures, calligraphy, guards, and capital letter design, prevent the knowledge and dissemination of an important part of universal culture.
Edilán-Ars Libris, assuming the recommendations arising from the XIX Congress of the International Publishers Union, held in Paris in May 1972, started a project in 1974 aimed at collaborating with the conservation and dissemination of this important legacy, participating in the restoration and later facsimile reproduction of some of the most remarkable medieval codices, both Spanish and from other European countries, in order to bring them out of their ostracism and closer to scholars and art lovers all over the world. In this spirit, Edilán-Ars Libris is a member of Concentus Libri, the Association of Bibliophiles of Spain.
